Sockets, Nutsetters, Bits, Adapters & Extensions Increase Tool Versatility

Sockets

Sockets are used to drive fasteners. They attach to any tool that has an anvil, or any adapter or extension that has a male square drive.

A socket attaches to a tool via a female square drive, which comes in various sizes, including ¼”, ⅜”, ½”, ¾”, and 1”.

Once attached to a tool, the exposed end of the socket slides over a fastener.

Socket Shape: This receiving side of a socket is available in various configurations, such as 6 Point, 8 Point, and 12 Point, to accommodate different fastener head shapes.

Socket Sizing: Sockets are available in both metric and standard sizes, ranging from as small as ⅛" to larger than 2 ½".

Socket Features: Available socket types include impact, standard, ergo drive, non-sparking, magnetic, non-magnetic, and non-marring.

Magnetic sockets help hold the fastener inside the socket before installation.

NutSetters

Nutsetters, also known as nut drivers, are tools used to drive nuts and bolts, often with a hex head, into or out of a material. They are commonly used with power tools like impact drivers and are designed to efficiently tighten fasteners.

Bits

Bits are used to drive fasteners, drill holes, and perform other specialized operations. They can attach to any tool or tooling mechanism that has a bit holder, chuck, or square drive.

Bits used to drive fasteners (commonly called driver bits) come in different drives, such as Phillips, slotted, torx, and hex. There are different sizes of each of these drives.

Bits used to drill holes (commonly called drill bits) come in an array of different types, such as spade, auger, twist, step down, counter sink, and hole saw. Each of these different types also comes in different sizes.

The type and size of a bit needed is determined by your purpose, hole size, and material.

Adaptors & Extensions

Adapters allow the use of any tool with any socket or bit. Their purpose is to change the type or size of a tool's drive to fit the particular socket or bit in use.

Adapters come in a variety of configurations in order to allow for almost any conversation.

Extensions increase a tool's reach and are mostly used to improve access to hard-to-reach fasteners.

Extensions are positioned between the tool and the socket, allowing for the driving of a fastener without the tool being close to the fastener.

Extensions come in many lengths, drive sizes, and types.
