Torque Transducers Convert Mechanical Torque Inputs into Electrical Output Signals
Torque transducers convert a mechanical torque input into a proportional electrical output signal by measuring the twisting force applied to a shaft or other rotating component.
Most torque transducers utilize strain gauges, which are sensors that change their electrical resistance in response to deformation.
Transducers come in many configurations, but two main categories are:
Reaction (Static) torque transducers measure torque applied to a stationary object, and are often used in static applications.
Rotary (Dynamic) torque transducers measure torque in motion, and are often used in dynamic applications.
